Foot pain

Tell me a little about our feet.

Did you know your feet are the foundation of your entire body? They not only support your weight but also provide essential feedback to your brain about your position and movement. This sense, called “proprioception”, allows you to move with coordination and ease.

What might be some causes to foot pain?

Just like any other part of our body, our feet can experience pain and discomfort. This can be due to various factors, including:

Plantar fasciitis: Pain in the bottom of the foot, often worse in the morning.

Injury: Sprains and strains such as Turf Toe or rolled ankles.

Gout: A type of arthritis that causes sudden, severe pain in the joints.

Bunions: A bony bump that forms on the side of the foot at the base of the big toe.

Neuropathy: Nerve damage that can cause numbness, tingling, and pain.

Poor circulation: Reduced blood flow to the feet can cause discomfort and pain.

Issues elsewhere: Believe it or not, foot pain can sometimes originate from problems higher up in the body, such as the low back. Sciatica, for example, can sometimes cause pain that radiates down the leg and into the foot.

If you're experiencing foot pain, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional. They can help determine the underlying cause and recommend the most appropriate treatment plan.

How can chiropractic care help?

Chiropractors play a vital role in addressing foot pain by improving joint mobility with gentle adjustments which can help restore proper motion to the joints in the feet and ankles. Reducing muscle tension contributing to foot pain. Enhancing proprioception by improving joint function, reducing nerve interference, and decreasing pain chiropractic care can help to optimize proprioception, leading to better balance and coordination.
